Scientific Coordinator

Sascha Martens

Sascha Martens obtained his Diploma and Doctoral degrees from the University of Cologne in Germany. For his postdoctoral training he moved to the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK. In 2009 he established his independent laboratory at the Max Perutz Labs Vienna.

Mirjam Beck

After her diploma studies at the University of Vienna and her doctoral studies in Molecular Biology at the Max Perutz Labs, Mirjam Beck worked as a postdoctoral scientist and lecturer at the Medical University of Vienna. Since 2021 Mirjam is the administrator of the Special Research Program in Targeted Protein Degradation.

A Special Research Program

Our Special Research Program, SFB F79, is funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) with contributions by the German Research Foundation (DFG). It is comprised of scientists from Max Perutz Labs, University of Vienna, Medical University of Vienna, CeMM, GMI, IMBA and IMP from Vienna as well as IMB in Mainz. We are joining forces to unravel how cells target proteins for degradation.
